August Staff Spotlight
Each month, we send out a company-wide newsletter for our key staff and highlight different staff members each month.
Meet our August Spotlight:
Sarah Spire
How long have you been working for BTTS and what is your role?
I started at BTTS as an Event Assistant in January of this year! Less than two months later, I became a Social/Corporate Event Coordinator at Vue and The Ellis!
What was your first role in the events industry if this is not your first?
This is my first true event coordinator role. In my previous role, I was the Assistant Director of Admissions at an all-girls boarding school in Maryland. I also lived on campus working as a dorm parent.
While it wasn't directly stated in the job description, I ended up organizing and executing a lot of events through both of these roles. From Super Bowl parties in the dorms to campus wide Open Houses for 400+ perspective students, I quickly fell in love with the events side of my job. I am so happy I get to continue doing what I love in this role with BTTS!
What is something you think more people should know about the wedding or events industry?
We can accomplish a whole lot in not a lot of time. I have had clients who come to us in a panic because their venue canceled on them and they are less than a month out from their big event. Being able to turn it around an execute their dream event they thought was doomed is always so rewarding. Also, this ability to get these things done takes a village. BTTS truly is one big team, and I am so grateful to be a part of it!
What is something you'd currently recommend?
Go do the thing you have been wanting to do! I feel like everyone has a list of these activities they want to do or restaurants they want to try that they will "get to one day". What are you waiting for? Life is too short! Go do it!
What is your go-to karaoke song?
I have actually never done karaoke! I am potentially the world's worst singer, which may be what has held me back all these years. If I was to get up on stage however, I would go for "Come Clean" by Hilary Duff, "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood or "Complicated" by Avril Lavigne.
What is something you are looking forward to in the rest of this year?
Tons of exciting events, the company summer party, and meeting all the new hires!
